Job Purpose
Ofoodi Limited is expanding its procurement operations and is looking for an experienced Purchasing Consultant with expertise in sourcing high-quality African food products. The role involves developing strategic supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the best value for the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers for African grocery products.
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies to improve supply chain efficiency and reduce costs.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement.
- Conduct supplier audits to ensure quality, compliance, and reliability.
- Monitor market trends and product availability to anticipate changes in supply and demand.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing and potential suppliers to secure the best deals.
- Work closely with warehouse and distribution teams to ensure smooth product delivery.
- Analyse purchasing data and generate reports on costs, savings, and supplier performance.
- Ensure compliance with UK import regulations and ethical sourcing practices.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain roles.
- Proven experience in sourcing and purchasing African food products is highly desirable.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Familiarity with procurement software and supply chain analytics tools.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple supplier relationships.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. (Not Essential)
